Luanda - Angola’s pavilion at Expo2010 to be held in China from October 1 to October 31, is receiving finishing touches and decoration.This was announced Thursday in Luanda, by the spokesman for the National Commission, Albino Carlos.
In order to mark the new stage of the works of finish, an official ceremony was held by the organisation attended by Angolan commissioner for Expo2010, Albina Assis and Chinese officials.
Speaking to Angop, the official expressed the commission’s satisfaction, given that Angola is the first African country to initiate this phase.
“We think that by mid April we'll have the pavilion ready, thus starting the process of installing the exhibits that will be the image of the country at the event”, he said.
The source also said the artists that will take the image and culture of Angola to Shanghai (China), from May 1 to October 31, have already been selected.
“We have complete artistic cultural caravans that will take the culture, excitement and joy of Angolans to China”, said Albino Carlos.
He added that the committee has met with some exhibitors, including the diamond and oil companies, Endiama and Sonangol, respectively, in order to get some details for the achievement of a decent work.
The pavilion will be of type II, covering an area of 1000 square kilometres, and show some of the Angola of the past, emphasizing mainly the new Angola resulting from modern urban centres, and the interaction that is increasingly felt between cities and the rural areas.
The area of Angola’s pavilion will host the exhibition during the various activities alluding to festive days, especially a female exhibition of paintings and sculptures, marking the African Women's Day and making of it a space where interaction will promote the country’s economic, financial and tourist potential.
The pavilion will show a singular appearance and an interior exposition, in order to better interpret the central theme of the exhibition: Sustainability of cities.
In this pavilion, visitors will find modern buildings, using new information technologies and technological innovations, showing construction in Angola, its people and culture, the source said.
Angola is one of the three African countries participating with a pavilion of its own at Expo2010 Shanghai China, with a modern and interactive space, offering at the entrance a VIP hall where foreign entities and personalities of the national political affairs will be received, with one of its sides illustrating the infrastructural reality before national independence.
