Angolans trained by ESSO in oil operations

Luanda 17/12/09 - Seventy one angolans are under a training program for operation technicians sponsored by ESSO - Exploration Angola Limited (Block 15) accordingly to an "angolanization" plan of oil research and production in the angolan off-shore.

According to a ESSO press note delivered to Angop today, the project is aimed at propitiating the company's angolan workers full training giving them necessary skills for their promotion.

Out of the 71 beneficiaries, 31 are already attending the School of Gas and Petroleum, at the South Alberta Institute of Technology while the other 40 will start in January 2010, in an investment of usd 300,000 each until the end of the program.

Under the "angolanization" program ESSO, operating in Angola since 1994, as Exxon-Mobil subsidiary, has already recruited 200 professionals in five training campaigns.

ESSO Exploration Angola is the leading operator in block 15 with 40 per cent, jointly with BP Exploration Angola Limited (26,67%), ENI Angola Exploration BV (20%) and Statoil Angola Block 15 A.S. (13,33).
