IACO secretary stresses potentials to recover coffee production
Luanda 13/8/09 – The secretary of the Inter-African Coffee Organisation (IACO) Josefa Correia Sacko, Friday here affirmed that Angola has potentialities and conditions to re-launch coffee production.
Speaking to Angop, through the Internet, from Côte D'Ivoire, Josefa Sacko said that due to the political willing of the sector to relaunch the activity, Angola may recover its position of one of the world’s biggest coffee producers (in 1973 Angola was the world’s third largest producer with 200,000).
She added the country has at the moment incentive policies that will enable farmers, organised in cooperative firms, to work and recover the production into phases.
According to the source, at the moment that there is noticed a low production of ‘’robust coffee’ in the international market, Angola should seize the opportunity to relaunch the production of this sort of coffee, which is well valued in the Stock Exchanges.
