Government pledges stable, efficient macro-economic policy
Luanda 11/8/08 – Angolan Government is intent on implementing in 2009 a macro-economic policy that guarantees the economy’s stability and efficacy and supports the creation of jobs.
This was said Friday in Luanda by Angolan prime minister, António Paulo Kassoma, during the presentation of the Government’s National Plan and the State Budget for 20009 to the National Assembly (Parliament).
According to the prime minister, the macro-economic policy for 2009 is expected to secure the conditions for economic stability, efficacy and efficiency and contribute for a positive and controlled balance of payment.
The public finances for 2009 will be directed to such goals as provision of public and semi-public goods, resolution to income imbalances and participation in efforts of economic convergence, within the framework of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and the Economic Community of East Africa (ECCAS).
He said the monetary and exchange policy is expected to contribute to a “relatively low” inflation and stability of the extreme value of the national currency and prices, efficient functioning of the markets with a view to backing the economic growth and strengthening of the private sector.
The policies of support to development, which includes the policies on population, job and professional training, science and technology, promotion of investment and support to exports and development of the territory, in a general way, set the goals, actions and political measures and respective goals.
The policies and sectoral priorities in such economic areas as agriculture, oil, gas, geology and mining, industry, commerce, hotels and tourism, are part of the Government programme for 2009, the premier said.
An attention will also be paid to infrastructures of water, electricity, public works, transports, urbanisation, housing, environment, information technology and telecommunication.
The programme also gives a highlight to tasks of development for next year, which include actions in the domains of social policies like education, health, social integration and welfare, family and women promotion, sports and reform and modernisation of the State – public administration, justice and national statistics system.
