Low oil price may slash down investment in research

Luanda, 10/30 – The current downward trend of the oil price may, any way, discourage the investment either in research or in development of the new oil fields, said Thursday in Luanda, the Oil minister, Botelho de Vasconcelos.

Botelho de Vasconcelos, made these statements at the opening of the conference on “Energy in Angola”, held by the Centre of Study and Scientific Research of Angola’s Catholic University. According to the minister, the academy is neither restrict and nor content with transmitting of knowledge and test its density through the self tools and mechanisms to its institution, but also through the trainees in following phase.

This case, the university plays one of the school's roles, concerning the issue of the society, discussing the problems and proposing solutions, even it its conclusions do not coincide with those of the other institutes.

To him, the strangulation resulting in refining and the limit of capacity also impacted negatively the supplying volume.

Angola is the second biggest oil producer in the Sub-Saharan Africa and for this reason it has been played a more and more relevant role as energy supplier in the world, a position that should be consolidated through the export of natural gas in the ambit of the Angola Energy project.

The energy is, unquestionably, one of the factor on which depends the economic, social and cultural development of society and peoples.

The economic development, worldwide, depends on secured adequate supplying of energy and balance between the supply and demand of the product, with the view to comfort both the producers and the consumers.
