Government allocates budgets for country's districts
27/10//08 -Angolan Territory Administration (MAT), Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, at the weekend announced in Ondjiva city, Cunene, that the 167 districts of Angola ill be transformed into state budgets until next year, having financial independence, for the first time in the country.
The government official advanced such information while addressing the presentation ceremony of the new governor of Cunene province, António Ndidalelua, underlining the intention of the government aiming at turning the districts into the most promising financial institutions, facilitating the local initiatives.
He said that this project will include other districts of the country and the approval of the 2009 Government, the approval of the government plan for 2009 will boost socio-economic self-development of the municipalities, In the framework of the execution of the programme, it is expected that each district will receive from the State Budget (OGE) an amount estimated at USD five million to carry out the government policies, as well as holding other actions of own initiatives in favour of the well-being of the citizens of these districts, her referred.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira stressed that this programme will also be part of a far-reaching measure, within the country governance, providing to the districts a decentralised financial management, having their own budgets, a move which has already been implemented in the areas.
The Cabinet minister understands that this programme will guarantee more job opportunities for the youth, keeping them busy, avoiding them from turning to other practices condemned by the society.
